Graduate Programs

Graduate Studies Committee Chair Welcome

The Department of Microbiology has a rich history and long tradition of training world-class scientists. As we enter into this new era of genomics and molecular life science research we are well on our way to training the next generation of researchers. If you have not already done so, please visit the other areas of our web page (; you will see that we have recently added seven new faculty members. Our facilities are also growing. In addition to our fermentation facility, in 2001 the new Plant-Microbe Genomics Facility opened providing high-throughput DNA sequencing, DNA array and proteomics services.

It’s an especially exciting time to be entering the field of Microbiology and we very much hope that you will join our Graduate Program. If you have any questions or if you would like to visit the department, please contact me. We would be happy to answer your questions or make the necessary arrangements for your visit.
